Nintendo Confirms 3DS Analog Attachment Coming

Wow, looks like all those rumours floating around about Nintendo releasing a 3DS attachment to make it a twin-stick device we're true.

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed the first image of a peripheral that adds a second circle pad and set of shoulder buttons to 3DS.

A Nintendo UK rep has told EDGE "We can confirm that Nintendo does plan to release the attachment but that any further announcements on the attachment will be made at some later time by Nintendo."

Nintendo is holding a Nintendo 3DS product announcement conference in Japan on September 13. Will we also get confirmation of a 3DS redesign? Only time will tell, unless of course someone leaks out the information beforehand.

SUPER MONKEY BALL 3DS FIRST TO HIT BARGAIN BIN

Wow, we didn't expect to see 3DS games hit $19.99 prices this fast but I guess the video game landscape is quite different now. Also, we would say some of the 3DS launch titles should of started at these prices.

Nevertheless, we have now opened up the 3DS Bargain Bin and the first title to be tossed in is Super Monkey Ball - 3DS (In stock usually ships within 24hrs) with a new low retail price of $19.99.

Look for more 3DS games to be tossed into our newest bargain bin soon!

VIDEO GAME RUMOUR MILL NEW 3DS ON THE WAY?

Seems rumours are circulating the web that Nintendo is about to announce a redesigned 3DS system featuring twin analogue sticks and a decreased emphasis on 3D.

Nintendo may also be considering a name change and currently working on an additional device that would be sold seperately and attach to older 3DS models.

While still rumours French website 01net who broke several Wii U and Vita stories says it has received the news from an unnamed source who works within Nintendo.

REGION FREE TEST ON ALL 3DS GAMES

Our PAL Nintendo 3DS system finally showed up today after being stuck in courier hell for the past 3 weeks. We took the time and tested all North American 3DS games on it to confirm if any are region free or not.

Well, seems the reports we read about the region free option being left to the publishers discretion were either inaccurate or they just all decided not to use the option. We can confirm ALL North American 3DS games are NOT region free.

We will continue to test all future North American 3DS games on our PAL console. If at any point a miracle happens and one is region free we'll post the miraculous results here.

NINTENDO 3DS ENHANCED BY 3D GLASSES

Great News!! We've tried using 3D glasses while playing our 3DS system in the office and wow does it ever enhance the image quality. It actually looks and feels like the images are now popping off the screen toward you, just like when you go to a theatre and watch a 3D movie.

We're suprised this has not been tried before or even reported by Nintendo themselves as this seems to add an extra dimension to the 3DS gaming expereince. We've contacted Nintendo for clarification on this hidden feature and sent this information to all gaming news websites. It won't be long until you read about this everywhere but remember we here at VGP were first to break the news!!

Viewing Tip: To get the true 3D experience, we have found setting the 3D image output to medium on the 3DS system slider is the best setting while using the 3D glasses.

NINTENDO EXPLAINS 3DS REGION LOCKING

News broke last week that Nintendo's new handheld would be region-locked and gamers around the globe didn't waste time in using message boards, their Facebook and Twitter accounts to voice their displeasure.

Nintendo has finally broken its silence on the issue, explaining why and how the region lock will work.

"Nintendo 3DS hardware is available in three versions: Japanese, American and European/Australian," the company said in an official statement, "Nintendo has developed different versions of Nintendo 3DS hardware to take into account different languages, age rating requirements and parental control functionality, as well as to ensure compliance with local laws in each region."

"We want to ensure the best possible gaming experience for our users, and there is the possibility that Nintendo 3DS software sold in one region will not function properly when running on Nintendo 3DS hardware sold in another," continued the statement, "Guidance will appear on every packaging of Nintendo 3DS hardware and the accompanying software. If you are in doubt, Nintendo recommends that you only purchase Nintendo 3DS software in the region where purchased your Nintendo 3DS system."

However, there could be a light at the end of the tunnel as it seems unlike the DSi and DSi XL the region locking will be at the discretion of the publisher. Looks like we here at videogamesplus.ca might be in the market for European and Japanese 3DS's so we can region free test all North American 3DS games for our customers worldwide.

Nintendo is scheduled to announce the 3DS release dates for both North America and Europe tomorrow in New York and Amsterdam.

NINTENDO 3DS Is it worth the price? Let us know!

The whole net was a buzz yesterday with the official announcement by Nintendo of Japan that their new 3DS system will be releasing on Feb 16, 2011 with a price tag of 25,000 yen ($300us). Both Nintendo of America and Europe have stated the 3DS will hit those regions sometime in March 2011. The system will be available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. We definitely think the Nintendo 3DS is a thing of handheld beauty but is it worth the price? After all, a Blue-Ray playing PS3 system is currently selling for $299.99!! Let us know what you think by answering our newest POLL.
